Title: £100,000 compensation for multiple orthopaedic injuries to Polish biker - October 2013

Amount: £100,000

In May 2012 Mr K was involved in an accident when his motorcycle was hit by a taxi emerging from a side road. Liability was initially denied but after Bikelawyer investigated and obtained further evidence the Defendant accepted blame in full for the accident.

As a result of the accident Mr K fractured his left forearm, right wrist, right foot and sustained a minor closed brain injury. Mr K had originally come to the UK to work as a chef, a job he had also been doing in his homeland. Due to his injuries he was unable to return to work. Bikelawyer therefore acted swiftly and were able to obtain an interim payment of £10,000 within two months from the date of the accident. This early interim payment helped Mr K substantially given he was not able to work and suffered a full loss of earning immediately after the accident.

As Mr K lived alone he returned home to Poland and was cared for by his family. Bikelawyer were able to take instructions from Mr K even when he was in Poland in order to run his claim. Bikelawyer instructed a consultant orthopaedic surgeon, a consultant orthopaedic hand specialist, a neurologist and a psychiatrist in order to ensure that Mr K received the proper treatment as a result of the Defendant’s negligence and to ensure he was compensated for his injuries and losses.

The Defendant insurance company made an early offer to try and buy off Mr K for £64,500, however on Bikelawyer’s advice he visited the experts mentioned above and was able to increase this offer to £100,000. This money allowed Mr K to have further surgery and treatment and consider returning to work as a chef which he loved.
